A 100% NATURAL, RECYCLABLE AND SUSTAINABLE PROCESS
CORK IS SYNONYM OF REDUCING THE CARBON FOOTPRINT.
The production of cork stoppers helps to preserve the forests of cork trees, a typically Mediterranean, fire-resistant species, which increases our biodiversity and represents a decisive barrier to desertification. And which, in all probability, would be seriously threatened if it were not planted to extract cork. Not to mention the fact that its cultivation enables the rural population to put down roots.
The controlled extraction of cork, by hand and in the traditional way, does not damage the tree, which can live for up to 250 years. After every extraction, the biological activity of the cork tree and its ability to fix CO2 multiply. In addition, the cork sheets are fully used. The parts not used for making natural cork stoppers are sold as a by-product to make other types pf stoppers and products.
The result is that every finished stopper represents a negative CO2 balance. In fact, the wineries that use cork stoppers can reduce their carbon footprint by between 18% and 40%. And they do so guaranteeing the best conservation and the best evolution for their wines by sealing them with a product that is as 100% natural as the wine itself.
